8. Suhama

Restored in June 2022, the smooth stone beach (suhama) dates back to the 1930s. When pandemic travel restrictions were lifted, five professionals from the Japanese Landscapers Association came from Tokyo and combined efforts with our local contractors and volunteers to restore this feature, common in many Japanese landscapes and placed on the ocean side of the garden. The original suhama dates back to the 1930s. Location was confirmed by an old photograph from a family album.
