Join our vibrant and passionate community of volunteers

Volunteers are essential to our mission. Each year our volunteers donate their time and talent to help to care for our monuments, foster our shared landscape, and enhance the public’s experience.

The Gardens have a wide range of volunteer opportunities that vary throughout the year. Whether you love to engage with the public, work with youth, or help maintain our beautiful gardens, we have a volunteer role for you. Scheduled volunteer days are listed in the events calendar.

Volunteer Opportunities

Outdoors Getting Dirty

From cleaning invasive limu out of Waihonu pond to painting picnic tables, if you don’t mind getting dirty, we have lots of jobs for you.

Outdoors Staying (mostly) Clean

From cleaning monuments to raking debris, if you’d like to work outside, but stay (mostly clean), we have lots for you to help with.

Event Support

Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens partners with the County of Hawaiʻi and many other community groups to host events in the Gardens. Helping with setup and breakdown, welcoming guests, and providing information is needed for events.

Administrative Support

Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens is a completely volunteer-run nonprofit organization. Volunteers able to help with administrative, clerical, and digital media are much appreciated.
